Why Me?

Well, why not?

Odds are if you've stumbled upon here, you either know me in person or have seen something of mine you've liked. I don't claim to be a professional; web design was always a hobby. But if you're looking for a small site, personal or business, I can help you out. And give you a pretty good deal, too, if I do say so myself.

I've been tinkering with HTML since our family first bought a computer, which was somewhere around 1995. It wasn't until later that I delved into graphics, taking a couple design courses through college. I work primarily with Photoshop and Illustrator, hand-coding my HTML. (Okay now I'm just showing off.)

Your Site

If you've never had a website before, there are some things you'll need to invest in before hiring someone to set up or maintain one for you:

1. A domain. This is the actual address of your website. Most people, me included, use godaddy.com. They're good and reliable.

2. A host. This is where the actual files are located. They're a little trickier to figure out where to go, as there are many options. Personally, I use IWS Hosting. The amount of space you need is up to you. I'm no good at figuring that out, so my advice is useless. But as a point of reference, quasigeek.net (including Designs, Words, and three blogs) uses 150 MB. It depends on how much you plan to have on there.

The domain has to point to the host somehow, so your site actually shows up when you type in the address. Your host will provide a nameserver; you log into your domain account and put this information in there. If this is way over your head, I will gladly set this up for you as part of the initial set-up. But you do need both a domain and a host before I can do anything.

Initial Set-up

$250, includes main page and three sub-pages (including minor graphic design, ie header images, photo manipulation [cropping, color adjustment, etc.], & anything else under 100x100 pixels.) No partial payment for less than four pages.

Additional pages: $10 each.

Any additional add-ons desired to be discussed.

Monthly Maintenance

Most people like to be in control of their own site, and I make that super easy to do. But if you'd like for me to do it for you, it's $250 a month for 20 hours. Includes updates, graphics, new pages, coding, etc.

Anything over is $30 per hour.

No partial payment for less than 20 hours.

Content is negotiable, depending on complexity.
